Lexington Counseling

Practice Policies

Length and frequency of treatment

Psychotherapy involves regular sessions 50 minutes in length. Duration and frequency of psychotherapy varies depending on the issues that are presented and your individual needs.  Typically therapy starts with once a week frequency. The objective of the treatment is to feel well enough to reduce and ultimately end treatment. Many clients find that having established a therapeutic relationship they can check-in periodically or return to do brief therapy aimed at specific problem solving or during a crisis.

With new clients, consecutive sessions are scheduled for purposes of assessment. At the end of this assessment period, recommendations for therapy are discussed with you and at that time we will begin to create a treatment plan that will become the focus of your therapy. However, if at the completion of the assessment there are issues outside the areas of expertise of the Lexington Counseling practice, a more appropriate practitioner will be identified for you and a referral will be made.

Confidentiality

The information that you share with your therapist will be kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed without your written consent.
